I am in the class of 2025 at Loyola High School of Los Angeles, California, a top water polo program in the nation, ranking in the open division in the Southern California Section for the past few years. Additionally, I play at Foothill Water Polo Club and have participated in major tournaments including Futures and Junior Olympics with the Rose Bowl Water Polo Club. I am extremely dedicated to personal improvement and to the sport as a whole, practicing an average of 20 hours a week and playing at the highest level of competition.
I became a water polo goalie because the role embodies many characteristics that I value and aspire to. For instance, the position demands a strong sense of teamwork. I enjoy building bonds with each and every one of my teammates, allowing us to trust each other and create an atmosphere where the defense can operate at its peak effectiveness and efficiency. At the same time, communication and leadership is crucial. As a goalie, I must effectively instruct the defense, a role that I am well prepared for based on my experience both in and out of the pool. In addition to water polo, I have held leadership roles in Boy Scouts, on my retreat teams, at school, and on club teams.
Coupled with my focus on athletics, I excel academically, challenging myself with a long list of Honors and AP classes throughout my high school career. I am totally committed to success both in the pool and in the classroom, earning over a 4.3 weighted GPA in my first 6 semesters and being named a Loyola High School Ignatian Scholar. Additionally, I value extracurricular activities and community involvement. For this reason, I have dedicated myself to many activities in different fields. Most notably, I am an Eagle Scout and have held numerous leadership roles within my Boy Scout Troop over many years. I have also led several Campus Ministry Retreats including the Freshman, Sophomore, and Transfer Retreats as well as leading the Junior Retreat and being involved in the Big Brother Program my Senior school year. I am the House Manager for Loyola's Hannon Theater Company and have also participated in a variety of service projects in my local community and the community surrounding my school.
